Annual Translation Day and Magazine & Book Launch-2022
The Annual Translation Day of the Department of Translation Studies, Faculty of Arts, University of Jaffna, was held on 22nd of December, 2022. To mark the Annual Translation Day, the Department of Translation Studies arranged an exhibition from 9.00 a.m to 12.00 p.m on the above mentioned date.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Prof. Sri Satkunarajah, Vice Chancellor, University of Jaffna at 9.00 am. Prof.K.Suthakar, Dean, Faculty of Arts, Mr. Prasath Herath, Director General, National Institute of Language Education & Training, Mr. M. Thirunavukarasu, Deputy Director, NLEAP, Prof. Kennedy and Mrs. Kennedy from Eastern University and Lecturers, Visiting Lecturers of our department and from other departments viewed the exhibition and appreciated our students’ innovative ideas and performance. Teachers and students from Chundikuli Girls College, St. John’s College and St. Patrick’s College viewed the exhibition eagerly.
The exhibits were categorized based on the important areas of Translation Studies as follows;
- Mind-Games-1st year Students
- Principles of Translation-2nd year 1st semester Students
- Methods of Translation-2nd year 1st semester Students
- Dimensions of Translation-2nd year 2nd semester Students
- Lexicons for Translators-3rd Year Students
- Language Variation-3rd year Students
- Translation and Interpretation-4th year Students
In order to witness the academic talents of our students, Annual Magazine and Book Launch were held at kailasapathy auditorium, University of Jaffna, at 2,.30 pm. Prof. Sri Satkunarajah, Vice Chancellor, University of Jaffna, Prof.K.Suthakar, Dean, Faculty of Arts, Mr. Prasath Herath, Director General, National Institute of Language Education & Training, Mr. M.Thirunavukarasu, Deputy Director, NLEAP, Prof. Kennedy and Mrs.Kennedy from Eastern University, Lecturers, Visiting Lecturers of our department and from other departments participated in the programme.
Our Annual magazine “Translator-Issue V” was released containing the articles of students and lecturers related to translation.

Students presented their ideas through exhibit models, documentary and short film. Among the presented exhibits the followings were selected as the fine work of the students;
1st place was awarded for Interpretation of Political speeches (4th year)
1st place was awarded for Documentary on Dialectal variation (3rd year)
3rd place was awarded for Aurora Dictionary Process (3rd year)
Certificates were issued to the students who won in the competitions conducted to mark the International Translation Day (30th of sept.2022)
