Department of Translation Studies has been offering special degree in Translation Studies since 2011 in the Faculty of Arts, University of Jaffna. Since Translation enables effective communication between people around the world, it is a medium for the dissemination of knowledge, a protector of cultural heritage, and essential to the development of a global economy. It is obvious that there is a dearth for translators in Sri Lanka.
