The 1st in-person PTILC meeting of the year 2023 was held at Olympus Plaza Hotel, Haputale on 18th and 19th of May.

The Professional Translation and Interpretation Learning Community (PTILC) Meeting. PTILC creates a forum for academics, professionals & relevant government agencies discuss Translation and Interpretation Studies and deliberate on solutions to address the urgent need in the country for quality Translation and Interpretation services. Developing academically qualified and practically proficient Translation and Interpretation Professionals is critical to the effective implementation of the Official Languages Policy of Sri Lanka. A key area of discussion was the vital need to develop a Standardized Translation Internship Program for students following the Bachelor of Arts Translation Degree Programme at the NLEAP Partner Universities University-of-Kelaniya Eastern University, Sri Lanka University of Jaffna & Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka.
